AI Website Builder

Describe the website you want and the AI builds it while you watch - chat on the left, a live preview of your site on the right. Publish to a free secure address in one click, or connect your own domain with a guided DNS setup.

What it is

The AI Website Builder gives you:

• A split-view workspace - your conversation with the AI on the left, a live preview of the site on the right.
• Multi-page websites built and edited from plain-language chat - no code, no drag-and-drop builder.
• A library of ready-made starter websites you can copy and adapt, with no AI credits used.
• A file viewer with version history, so you can see what changed and go back to an earlier version.
• One-click publishing to a free secure address, with SSL included.
• Custom domain support with copy-paste DNS records and automatic SSL.
• The ability to embed other SoftSolz services (forms, chat, payments and more) into your site.
• The option to bring your own AI assistant: connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor and let it build and improve the same website, on its own credits (see Build with your own AI assistant).

Create your first website

Open AI Website Builder → Websites. You can start blank or from a starter.

Start blank

1. Click New website (or Build your first website when you have none yet). Enter a Website name and, if you like, What is it for?, then click Create website. The name also becomes your free web address, and the dialog tells you whether that address is available. Renaming the website later does not change the address.
2. Answer three quick questions. What are you building?, Do you have brand assets? and Pick a visual direction, then click Build my website. You can also skip them and just describe the site in chat.
3. Describe what you want. Plain language works best: "A three-page site for a photography studio - home, portfolio, contact. Dark, minimal, with a large hero image." The AI builds a first version and the preview appears on the right.
4. Keep talking. The first version is a starting point - refine it in chat until it looks right.

Start from a starter

Under your own websites, Starter websites shows finished designs (filter by All, Landing pages or Advanced apps). Click Preview to look around one, or Use it, give it a Website name and click Create website. You get your own copy straight away and no AI credits are used.

Editing with chat

Every change is a chat message. Ask for anything: "make the header darker", "add a pricing page with three tiers", "swap the hero text and image". The AI edits the site and the preview updates. You can attach images and documents to a message, and the AI sometimes asks a question with options you can click.

• File chips - each AI reply shows small chips naming the files it created or changed (e.g. index.html, pricing.html). Click a chip to open that file in the file viewer.
• Iterate freely - a version is saved before each change, so if a change goes wrong you can restore an earlier one (see below).
• View-only roles - members whose role only grants the view permission can open a website, read the chat, and browse the preview and files, but the message box and editing actions are disabled for them.

Preview

The Preview tab always shows the current version of your site.

• Desktop / mobile toggle - switch the preview between a desktop and a phone-sized viewport to check how the site behaves on small screens.
• Open in new tab - open the preview full-size in its own browser tab, useful for clicking through the pages like a visitor would.
• Refreshes by itself - when a connected AI assistant or a developer's integration changes the site, the preview reloads within a few seconds and an Updated by note names who made the change.

Brand: colours, fonts and shape

The Brand tab shows the colours, fonts, corners, shadow and spacing your site really uses. Members who can edit can change them here without asking the chat:

• Colours - pick a colour with the swatch or type a hex code such as #dc2626. Only the colours your design uses are listed.
• Typography - choose the heading and body fonts and their weights.
• Spacing and shape - choose square or rounded corners, the shadow strength, and compact, balanced or roomy spacing.
• Save changes - every page updates at once and the preview reloads. A version is saved first, so you can restore it from History.
• Use my brand colours - applies the brand colour set under Branding for your workspace, with no AI credits used.

Asking the chat for a colour change ("make the primary colour red") updates the same settings, so the Brand tab always matches the site.

Files and version history

The Files tab lists every file in your site. Open any file to read its contents. Members who can edit can also change a file and save it, add a new file, or delete one (the home page cannot be deleted). A website can hold up to 60 files.

Use the search box above the file list to find something in every file at once. Choose Page text to find words visitors see, such as a button label or a heading, or Code to find a tag, class name, style or setting. Click a result, or press Enter, to open that file with the match selected, ready to edit. Press F3 (or Ctrl+G), or use the arrows beside the match count, to go to the next match.

A version is saved just before each change, whether it came from the chat, a connected AI assistant or a developer's integration, and it is named after the request that followed. The History list under the files shows the most recent versions to members who can edit, and the last 20 are kept. To roll back, click the restore icon beside a version, then Restore - the site (and the preview) return to how they were before that request. Your current state is saved first, so you can always roll forward again.

Publishing

1. Open the Publish tab and click Publish. A message says Publishing started, and Publish history shows the publish as Publishing, then Live. Your site is now on a free secure address, with SSL included, so visitors always get https://.
2. Keep editing safely. Chat edits only change your working version - the published site stays as it was until you publish again.
3. Publish again to update. When you have unpublished changes the button reads Publish changes and the top of the builder says Changes not live yet; when everything is live it says the website is up to date.

Connecting your own domain

The free address works forever, but you can serve the site from a domain you own (e.g. www.example.com). Publish the website first; the domain box stays disabled until you have.

1. Open your website → Domains. Type the domain under Connect your own domain, then click Add. If you bought the domain in SoftSolz, pick it from your domains instead and the DNS records are added for you.
2. Copy the DNS records. We show you exactly which records to add - each with a copy button.
3. Paste them at your registrar - the place where you manage DNS, usually where you bought the domain (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.). Add each record exactly as shown.
4. Click Check. We verify the records are in place. DNS changes can take a few minutes to spread, so if the check says Not verified yet, wait a little and try again.
5. Done. Once the domain shows as Connected, your site is served from it and an SSL certificate is issued automatically - there is nothing to configure.

Embedding SoftSolz widgets

Your other SoftSolz services can live inside the generated site. Open your website and go to the Integrations tab:

1. Pick a service. Every connectable service is listed - Forms, the AI Chat Assistant, Payments, Newsletter, Blogs, Appointments and Customer Auth - whether or not you use it yet.
2. Click Connect. If the service is not in your workspace yet, it is added for you first. Every service is included in your plan, so there is nothing extra to buy.
3. Choose what to show - which form, signup card, payment button, booking link or knowledge base - and whether you want the ready-made widget or a custom design. Only published forms and signup cards can be picked. Then click Connect and add to site.
4. The AI places it on the page where it fits, and it works for visitors once published. Use Copy embed code if you also want it elsewhere, or Remove from website to take it off the site.

Forms can be connected more than once, and the Forms dialog can turn a form already designed into your pages into a SoftSolz form with the same fields. Some services (Forms, Newsletter, Customer Auth and Appointments) may ask you to set up your own sending address first, so their emails come from you.

Websites created from a starter already have a designed place for some services, marked In this template on the Integrations tab. Connecting one of those fills that place straight away, with no AI involved and no change to the rest of the page. If you choose the ready-made widget instead, it takes the place of the designed form, so your page never shows a form that does not work.

Connecting or removing a service changes your working version. If the website is already published, publish again to put the change on your live site.

Skills and settings

• AI Website Builder → Skills holds the building rules the AI follows. Add your own with New skill and choose whether it applies to every build or only when you ask for it.
• To use a skill you only apply on request, start your chat message with / and the skill's name, then say what you want, for example /brand-voice rewrite the About page. The skill sets how the AI works, so the message still needs a task after it. Typing / lists your skills; press Enter to pick one.
• AI Website Builder → Settings protects your websites from spam. Each tab covers one feature: AI chat, Forms, Newsletter, Blog comments and Bookings each set how many times one visitor can use it in a minute, and Blocking sets how long a visitor who keeps going over has to wait. Every tab shows the recommended number and explains what your number means.

Build with your own AI assistant

If you already pay for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, you can connect it to the Website Builder and let it do the building. SoftSolz still stores the files, checks them, keeps your versions, shows the preview, publishes and hosts the site, and connects your other services. The assistant designs and writes the pages.

A connected assistant can:

• Build a website from scratch, or start from one of the starter templates and adapt it to your business.
• Improve a site you already have from a prompt you type in the assistant: "Add a pricing page to the Northwind Bakery site", "Make the header darker and tighten the spacing on the home page."
• Connect your services - Forms, Blogs, Newsletter, AI Chat Assistant, Appointments, Payments and Customer Auth - and place them on the right page.
• Upload images, check the site for problems, hand you a preview link and publish, then help you add your own domain.

Everything the assistant does keeps the same safety net as the chat:

• You see it happen. If the website is open in SoftSolz, the preview refreshes within a few seconds and shows an Updated by Claude note (or the name of whichever assistant you connected). The chat pane records what changed, so the history reads as one conversation.
• Every change is a version. A version is saved before the assistant touches anything, so you can restore from Files at any time, exactly as with chat edits.
• The same checks apply. The files the assistant writes go through the same safety checks as the builder's own: no secret keys, no unsafe code, and only the public SoftSolz widgets can be called from the pages. A file that breaks a rule is refused and the assistant is told why.
• Publishing stays a decision. The assistant only publishes when it holds the Publish permission you granted, and the live site changes only when a publish completes.

How to connect

1. Open Developers in SoftSolz and copy the address from the Connected AI apps card.
2. Add it to your assistant as a connector, sign in, pick the workspace and tick the Website Builder permissions you want it to hold. Read websites lets it look; Create websites, editing and Publish websites and manage domains let it build, change and publish. Your Sandbox workspace is a safe place to try it first: publishing there is a test publish and your real site is not touched.
3. Ask in plain words: "Build a three-page site for my bakery in Leeds", "Add a contact form to the Northwind site and connect it to Forms", "Publish the Northwind site."

Site language

Every website has a language (it starts as your workspace language). To change it, click the pencil button on the website's card in Websites to open Website details, and set Language (for example en-GB or fr). SoftSolz uses it for every page it writes, so browsers and search engines know what language the site is in, and a connected assistant is told to write in it. Existing pages keep their copy until you or the assistant rewrite them.

Limits and AI credits

Two things are metered:

• Websites per plan - Free: 3 websites, Basic: 10, Growth: 25, Business: unlimited. Deleting a website frees a slot.
• AI credits - building and editing with the chat inside SoftSolz uses AI, so each request draws from your plan's AI credits (the same pool the rest of the AI features use). So does connecting or removing a service when the AI has to place it on the page. If you run out for the billing cycle, chat editing pauses until the cycle resets or you upgrade. You can see usage on the Subscriptions page. Changes made by a connected AI assistant or through the API cost no credits at all, and neither does creating a site from a starter, filling a starter's designed place, publishing or hosting.

Permissions

Access is controlled per role in Members & access → Roles. The Website Builder has five permissions:

Admins get all five by default. Give other roles the ones they need; custom roles can mix and match - e.g. a role that can edit but not publish.

The same five permissions are what a connected AI assistant or an API key can be granted, and a member can only hand an assistant the permissions their own role holds. An assistant connected by someone who can view and edit can build and change a site but cannot publish it.

Test it step by step

This gets a real website live without spending any AI credits, by starting from a starter.

1. Install the service. Open Marketplace, find AI Website Builder and click Install. You need to be an owner or admin to install services.
2. Check your permissions. Admins have every Website Builder permission. Anyone else needs view, create, edit and publish (see Permissions).
3. Try it in the sandbox first. Open the menu under your name at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Switch to Sandbox mode. Publishing there is a test publish, so nothing goes on your real address.
4. Create a website from a starter. Go to AI Website Builder → Websites, scroll to Starter websites, click Use it on any design, enter a Website name and click Create website. The builder opens and the chat says the website is ready. No AI credits are used.
5. Check the preview. On the Preview tab, click through the pages and switch to the mobile view. Open the Files tab to see the pages it is made of.
6. Connect a form. In Forms, create and publish a simple contact form. Back in the builder, open Integrations, click Connect on Forms, pick your form and click Connect and add to site. On a starter with a form marked In this template, this uses no AI credits.
7. Publish. Open the Publish tab and click Publish. A message says Publishing started, and Publish history moves from Publishing to Live (in the sandbox: Test publish). Open the address shown (in the sandbox, View your published test site).
8. Prove the form works. On the published site, fill in and send the form. The submission appears in your Forms inbox.
9. Go live for real. Switch back with Switch to Live mode, create or copy your site there and publish it. To use your own domain, you need a domain you own and access to its DNS settings; follow Connecting your own domain.
10. Try the AI chat (optional). Ask for a change such as "make the header darker". This uses AI credits, and the preview updates with the change when the reply arrives.

For developers

Create a sandbox API key from AI Website Builder → Developer with the Create websites permission, then create a blank website. This uses no AI credits.

A 201 reply with "status": "draft" means it worked, and the website appears under Websites in the sandbox. The Website Builder developer guide shows how to write pages, connect services and publish through the API.

If something goes wrong

Common changes & risks

• Editing after publishing - safe any time; the live site only changes when you publish again.
• Restoring a version - changes your working copy, not the published site, until you publish.
• Deleting a website - takes its published site offline and frees a plan slot. This cannot be undone.
• Removing a custom domain - the site falls back to its free address; visitors using your domain will stop reaching it.
