Products and Subscriptions

One list of what you sell and what it costs, so a quote, an invoice or a payment link all reach for the same prices.

Overview

Products and Subscriptions gives you:

The page has three tabs: Products, Subscriptions and Discount codes.

Add a product

Choose New product, give it a name, a price and an optional description. Retire a product instead of deleting it when you stop selling it - anything that already referenced it keeps working.

Recurring plans

A subscription ties a customer to a product on a repeating cycle: weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly. Set the quantity if they take more than one.

This is your customers paying you. It is separate from your own SoftSolz plan, which lives under Billing.

How renewals work

Each subscription carries the date it next falls due, and that date rolls forward on its own cycle.

Month lengths are handled properly. A subscription that starts on the 31st falls due on the 30th, 29th or 28th in shorter months and returns to the 31st afterwards - it does not silently drift earlier every month, which is the usual bug in this sort of thing.

Discount codes

A code takes either a percentage or a fixed amount off. You can cap how many times it is used and set an expiry date. A code that is retired, used up or past its date stops working and says which.

Codes are stored in capitals with spaces removed, so spring 24 and SPRING24 are the same code and a customer typing it in lowercase still gets the discount.

Using them elsewhere

Products feed Quotes and Invoicing. Recurring plans feed the monthly revenue figure on the Reporting page.
