AI Assistant panel

A helper that sits on every page of your workspace. Ask for something in plain words and the assistant panel does it on the page in front of you, one step at a time, so you can watch it happen and undo it if it is not what you wanted.

Overview

Type "Create a contact form with name, email and message" and the assistant panel opens the form builder and adds each field while you watch. Type "make email required" and the email field changes in front of you. You stay in charge the whole time:

Open the panel

  1. Select the glowing AI Assistant sphere (bottom-right unless you have moved it) on any page, or press Alt + /.
  2. Type what you want, or tap one of the suggestions under the message box.
  3. Press Esc to tuck the panel away. Your conversation is still there when you open it again.

The assistant panel is not shown on the AI Assistant page, because that page is already a chat. On a laptop or larger screen it opens along the right-hand side and the page moves over to make room. On a phone or tablet it opens as a panel along the bottom of the screen, and while it is working it shrinks to a slim bar with a Stop button so you can see the page change.

The assistant panel keeps one conversation for you in each workspace. After a day without messages it starts fresh on its own, and New conversation in the panel starts a fresh one whenever you like. Earlier conversations are kept, so you can go back to them. If your workspace has named its assistant, the panel uses that name. Your panel conversations are private to you and cannot be shared.

Past conversations

  1. Select the clock at the top of the assistant panel panel.
  2. Your conversations are listed with the most recent first. Type in the search box to find one by its title.
  3. Select a conversation to open it and carry on where you left off.

Move the sphere

Press and hold the sphere, then drag it anywhere on the screen, with a mouse or with your finger. The assistant panel remembers where you left it on that device. You can also select the sphere with Tab and move it with the arrow keys. The panel always opens in the same place, wherever the sphere sits.

What it can do

When it is missing something it needs, the assistant panel asks one short question and offers a few answers you can tap, rather than guessing.

The assistant panel can only do what your role already allows. If you cannot edit forms yourself, you cannot edit them through the assistant panel either.

What it never does

Something that is already live, such as a published form, is treated with extra care. The assistant panel only changes it while it is open on your screen, and may ask you to confirm first. Anywhere else, the change goes to AI Review for someone to approve.

Undo a change

Every change the assistant panel makes shows an Undo button in the conversation. You can also type "undo that".

Undo is recorded in your workspace's audit log alongside the original change.

Unsaved edits

If the page you are on has changes you have not saved, the assistant panel asks before it does anything:

If the assistant panel changes something you have open in another tab, that tab keeps what you typed and offers Load changes instead of replacing your work.

AI credits

Each message you send to the assistant panel uses AI credits from your plan's shared pool, the same pool the AI Assistant and other AI features use. Pressing Undo, opening a page, and watching the steps play out do not use extra credits.

See how many credits your workspace has left on the Subscriptions page in the app, and how plan allowances work in Billing. When credits run out the assistant panel tells you, and anything it already created stays saved.

Turn it on or off

The workspace owner always has the assistant panel. Everyone else sees it when their role includes the Use the AI Assistant panel permission. All four built-in roles include it.

  1. Open Team Management → Roles.
  2. Create or edit a custom role and find the AI Assistant panel group.
  3. Turn the permission off, then give that role to the people who should not see the assistant panel.

To decide which assistant changes need approval first, open AI Review → Settings and turn on Require approval for that action. See Review rules.

Do not see the assistant panel? The assistant panel is not shown on the AI Assistant page. On other pages, if you are not the workspace owner and your role includes the permission but the assistant panel is still missing, it has not been switched on for members of your workspace yet. A workspace admin can ask us to turn it on from the Contact us link in the app, or email info@softsolz.uk.

Panel or full page?
